Jacey Hammel, Ph.D., HSPP
Many people can find life’s changes and stressors challenging and can benefit from the services of a psychologist. Psychotherapy can help to alleviate distress, improve relationships, and further personal growth.
Stressful life events and trauma can lead to disconnection from one’s self and others. This disconnection can manifest as anxiety, depression, and loneliness. Through therapy, you can heal and build a more connected and fulfilling life.
With 19 years psychotherapy experience, I work with individuals and couples integrating cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and existential approaches to therapy. Therapy might involve coping skills, emotional awareness, mind-body connection, learning new ways of thinking and interacting to improve quality of life and relationships, and finding meaning. My areas of clinical focus include trauma, grief, life transitions, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, PTSD, C-PTSD, and sexuality.
Integrating techniques and approaches to best meet the needs of the individual, I draw from cognitive behavioral, existential, interpersonal and mindfulness modalities, with specialized training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alabama Birmingham, I taught Advanced Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
I am authorized to practice in all PsyPact States. See the “About My Practice” section below for additional information about my therapeutic approach. https://hammelpsychological.com/about-my-practice/
